Founder & Director
Salman Asif Siddiqui is the founder and director of Educational Resource Development Centre (ERDC) – an institute of training and material development in Pakistan. Salman is a staunch critic of contemporary education system and an articulate advocate of natural learning. Salman has a dream to turn every school (and home) into a learning club where children could be trusted, owned and accepted unconditionally. His recent academic contribution is the Charter of Children’s Recognition which has been proposed to ensure insult-free education for every child.
Salman has received his education in Pakistan and specialized in Educational Psychology. He has travelled widely and studied the strengths and limitations of some of the best education systems of the world. His academic pursuits spread across psychology, education, sociology, religion, philosophy, literature, and science. During his extensive experience of over 24 years in the field of education, he has served the roles of a teacher, trainer, counselor, author and editor.
Salman Asif Siddiqui has over forty children’s books and teachers’ courses to his credit as author or editor. His books for children are taught in schools in Pakistan and abroad. He has conducted hundreds of training workshops for teachers, trainers, school heads, parents and students all over the country in association with several public and private institutions. He has spoken to educational forums in Pakistan, Europe and Middle East and worked for a number of leading national and international organizations. He has been invited by leading TV channels to talk on education and parenting. He has also received the Award for Professional Excellence from government of Pakistan.
Based on his extensive and rich experience of working with parents, teachers and children Salman has proposed a framework for holistic parenting which is consistent with our context and value system. His research work and ideas on parenting are being compiled in the form of a book ‘Five Dimensions of Holistic Parenting’.
Salman Siddiqui during his professional career has trained and developed a highly competent and dynamic team of master trainers, counselors and writers who work under his leadership at ERDC. He also initiated MBA Education Leadership Program at PAF-KIET University (in collaboration with ERDC) and has been the Head of MBA Education Leadership Program for eight years. He has also established an academic forum Hulqa-e-ghour-o-fikir which facilitates dialogical reasoning on tarbiya issues.

Project Manager | Academic Consultant
Kanwal Laeeq is Project Manager at ERDC and serves the roles of material developer, trainer and academic consultant. She began her career in education about 17 years back as a school teacher. During her vast experience in the field of education she has done several consultancy and research assignments and training workshops. Kanwal is the author of over twenty books including a series of Science books published by Sindh Textbook Board and a series of teacher resource books. She has trained faculty of education colleges as master trainers for BBSYDP (Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Youth Development Program) an initiative of Education Department Govt. of Sindh, conducted workshops for Oxford University Press, US-AID, Paramount Publishing Enterprise and presented in international conferences. Besides her Masters in Zoology from University of Karachi and Master Teachers’ Course from TDC, she has done MBA in Educational Leadership from PAF-KIET.She has also attended several national and international conferences and training courses.
Project Manager | Author
Zubair Hussain Shaikh is the author of presidential award winning series Mera Iqbal and co-author of a number of books for children. He is known for his innovative teaching methods and strategies for teaching language. He has an extensive experience of conducting teacher-training programs in urban and rural areas of Pakistan on a wide range of topics related to pedagogy and academic leadership. Zubair has worked on different projects of book development, training, and evaluation with Sindh Textbook Board, Aga Khan Education Service Pakistan, Iqbal Academy Pakistan, The Citizen’s Foundation, Developments in Literacy, Indus Resource Centre, and Thardeep Rural Development Program. He holds a masters degree in Literature and has done B. Ed. from University of Karachi. With his rich experience spread over 17 years in the field of education, he works at ERDC as Project Manager.
Trainer | Counselor
Ayesha Salman conducts workshops and counseling sessions for parents at ERDC. She has written a book for preschoolers and co-authored a series of science text books for primary school children. She holds a masters degree in Botany from the University of Karachi and an MBA in Education Leadership from PAF-KIET. She has also attended an online course from Stanford University on Child Nutrition. Ayesha has conducted a research project on how children become writers. She is a story-writer and also conducts workshops on Storytelling. Her immense interest in exploring children’s potentials has led her to initiate a project of home-schooling her three children.
Head of Strategic Development
Hassan Siddiqi is a graduate of Parents’ & Teachers’ Certificate Course with his major in Teaching of Maths. He has been associated with the field of Information Technology for the past 15 years since he earned his BS degree in Computer Science. He remained involved in software development, business process reengineering and project management of several mission critical IT projects in private & government sectors both nationally and internationally. He works as Head of Strategic Development in ERDC.
Sumera Karim works at ERDC as Manager Training. She is a graduate of ERDC’s Parents’ & Teachers’ Certificate Course with her major in Early Childhood Education. She has also done B.Ed from Hamdard University. Her experience in the field of education spreads over ten years. Sumera has attended numerous training workshops and courses at various forums including NTC-Novice Teachers’ Course from Teachers Development Centre and Lifelong Learning Program (an online course) of Community Initiative Program UK. She also serves as a volunteer at a community based Religious Education Centre (REC) since her student life.
Faiza Farooqui is a graduate of ERDCs Parents’ & Teachers’ Certificate Course with her major in Teaching of Maths. She has done her bachelors from the University of Punjab. She has an experience of eleven years in the field of education. Faiza is currently associated with ERDC as Project Manager for the development of TCF Maths textbooks and teacher resource books.
Humaira Salman is a recognized Master Trainer at ERDC and TRC & CEO of Learners’ Resource Galaxy. She is a graduate of ERDC’s Parents’ & Teachers’ Certificate Course with her major in Teaching of Science. She holds a Masters degree in Zoology from the University of Karachi and has also attended several national and international programs on education. She began her career in education about 23 years back as a school teacher and has a vast experience of teaching different subjects both at primary and secondary levels. Humaira has also worked as a co-author in the development of Hamari Dilkash Dunya and Amli Riazi series of textbooks and teacher resource books at ERDC. She also worked with ERDC as a co-author for a series of Science textbooks and teacher guides for TCF Schools and served as a consultant for O’ Level Program at L2L Academy. She is currently associated with The Elixir School as English & Biology teacher.
Project Manager | Trainer
Rooh Ullah Khan is an M.A in Islamic Studies and also holds a degree of M.Ed in Secondary Teaching. He is a trainer and course coordinator at ERDC. He has completed his Professional Teacher’s Certificate Course from ERDC with his major in English Language Teaching. He also worked in the project of Humari Dilkash Dunya, (social studies book) for The Citizen Foundation. He has vast experience of 19 years in the field of education and has served the role of a teacher, coordinator, vice principal & principal. He has also attended several courses from ERDC, ERI, TDC, British council, Dawa Academy, Quran Academy & FEEL. During his vast experience of teaching, he has conducted several workshops and lectures on different platforms. His areas of interest are Seerah, Islamic History, Child Psychology, Pakistan Studies and Tarbiyah.

Raja Owaisullah has been teaching English for 18 years. He is MA ELT from National University of Modern Languages and was awarded Certificate for Overseas Teacher of English by Cambridge University, U.K in 2004. He is a certified trainer on ‘Critical Thinking’ by Open Society Foundation, New York and completed an offering ‘Shaping the way we teach English’ from University of Oregon, USA. He is currently working in a private school as an Academic Coordinator and has been associated with ERDC as content editor and training facilitator. Raja Owaisullah is a graduate of ERDC’s Professional Teachers’ Certificate Course with his major in English Language Teaching.
Former: Project Officer | Research Associate
Rizwana Ghafoor was associated with ERDC as Project Officer and Research Associate. She holds a masters degree in Islamic Studies from University of Karachi and a graduate of ERDC’s certificate course. She has a vast experience of teaching Islamic studies and coordination in different schools. Keeping in view the broader scope of teaching Islamic studies she has divided curriculum in such a way that helps students understand the importance of Islamic studies in their lives and character building. She has written few books for students on Islamic studies and has conducted several workshops. Now a days she is associated with Reflection’s School as a teachers’ trainer.
Azeba Matin works at ERDC as a Training Associate and at Manhal Montessori as a Vice Principal. She is a graduate of ERDC’s Parents’ & Teachers’ Certificate Course with her major in Early Childhood Education and has received a Montessori diploma from AMI. Azeba has a passion to work on different social issues especially for the emotional and social well-being of children. She has taught and held management positions at different schools for over a decade. She has also designed different activity books for pre-schoolers and attended many educational workshops. She is the mother of a son.
Project Manager | Trainer
Aamna Shamim has a rich teaching background and has diverse experiences in the field of education. She has been involved in teacher training and material development projects for the last five years. She has done MBA in Education Leadership from PAF-KIET and is a graduate of ERDC’s Professional Teachers’ Certificate Course. Aamna has passionately investigated the problems that are usually faced by learners in maths and has devised strategies to resolve them. She works at ERDC as a Project Manager and currently engaged in developing activity- based textbooks and teacher resource books on primary maths for The Citizens Foundation. She is also a co-author of Amli Science and Humari Dilkash Dunya series of books which are developed by ERDC for TCF.
Project Officer | Trainer
Zareena Bano works as a Project Officer and Master Trainer at ERDC. She is a reviewer of Elementary Science Books for Sindh Textbook Board and co-author of Starters’ Curriculum Pack. She has been a part of different projects on material development and teachers’ training. She has over 12 years of teaching experience of teaching different subjects from Pre- primary to higher Secondary. She has worked as Science Lead Teacher at Fatmiyah Girls’ School. She holds a Masters degree in Bio-technology from University of Karachi and did Master Teachers’ Course from TDC. Zareena is currently involved as a co-author in the development of Hamari Dilkash Dunya series of textbooks and teacher resource books on social studies. She has also attended several national and international programs on teaching and education. She is currently doing MBA Educational Leadership from PAF-KIET.
Tabassum Khalid is an illustrator with an ardor for drawing. She has been illustrating for over a decade now and has illustrated a number of books for children as well as adults. She also illustrates for newspapers and magazines covering a wide range of topics and styles. She has taught Drawing & Perspecive at SZABIST, Basic Design at Karachi University and has been a TA for History of Art, Film & Video and Pakistan Studies at Indus Valley School of Art & Architecture. Tabassum offered a Creativity Summer Camp for children (2014) and currently illustrates and conducts art/ creative workshops at ERDC for teachers as well as children. She is a mother of two and holds a Bachelors Degree in Communication Design (minor: Illustration) from Indus Valley School of Art & Architecture (2003).
Ghazala Amin is a free lance teacher trainer and conducts professional development workshops from the platforms of ERDC, Oxford University Press, Bookmark and WISE Young Generation Centre (Kingdom of Bahrain). She has been into teaching for the last, 28 years, and has an experience of teaching English Literature, Language and O’level Islamiat at Generation’s School for about 17 years. Along with being the facilitator of Young Leadership Programme at the institution she served, she has also worked in the capacity of a student counselor (informally) to understand and cater to the emotional and intellectual needs of students. Ghazala Amin has also contributed as a writer in the development of textbooks. Currently, she is working as a Project Consultant on a series of o Level Islamiat books and working with home schoolers as well.
Tahir Javed is an educational consultant with strong background in educational management, school leadership, teacher development, assessment, and language teaching. His previous professional engagements in Education have been as follows: Program Manager (2010-14) at SIE-iEARN, managing the English Access Program serving 1,900+ students in underprivileged areas of Karachi, Hyderabad and Rawalpindi; Director (2001-2010) of Al-Murtaza School and Al- Murtaza Professional Development Center; worked (1993-2001) with Aga Khan Education Service, Pakistan and AKU-IED. He got his M.A. Education from Concordia University, Montreal.
Playwright | Poet
Manzar Imam is one of the famous playwright, poet and a story writers Pakistan has ever produced. His write-ups were published in one of the leading magazines of Pakistan and India. Eid Train, Yes Sir No Sir, Pas-e-Aina, Hanstay Hanstay and Tanha Tanha are some of his famous plays broadcasted by Pakistan Television. He has also been awarded a special award from UNESCO on his famous drama series “Waqt ka Aasman”.
Ishrat Mateen has a vast and varied experience in the field of Education in Pakistan and Middle East. Having a Master’s degree in English she has served in renowned schools for over four decades. She is a Certified Teacher Trainer and has trained thousands of teachers in both private and public sector in the past fifteen years. Has a dynamic and charismatic personality and has outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
Isfandyar Inayat carries 18 years of experience in Business development, Business process reengineering, Relationship, Management, Project management and Trainings. Before joining TCF he worked with Karachi Electric Supply Company as General Manager. He holds M.Sc. degree in Banking and Finance from Frankfurt School of Finance & Management in Germany. His interests lie in reading, volunteer work for the education sector and scuba diving.

Rashida Murtaza is presently working as a deputy head teacher at Habib Girls School and as a visiting faculty member at Iqra University and ERDC. She holds a masters degree in English Literature from Karachi University and has earned a gold medal for M.Ed from Hamdard University. A vast experience and expertise in heading a big team, successfully running the administration and managing the school activities for more than a decade speak volumes of her leadership skills. She is an accomplished educator with demonstrated ability to teach, motivate and direct students to become self-learners
Huma Khan has done Masters in Geography from Karachi University. She has taught at reputed schools and held management position at different schools for over a decade. She has worked as an administrator for 5 years in Farabi School (A Project of ZSM Trust, Canada). She represented the Canadian Trust here in Pakistan and led their school project. She has also worked as Co-author in the development of science and social studies series of text books and teachers’ resource books for TCF schools at ERDC. She is a graduate of ERDC’s Parents’ & Teachers’ Certificate Course with her major in Early Childhood Education. Currently she’s working as Academic coordinator in a reputed school in Karachi.
Sarah Ashar is a diligent and success driven early childhood educator. She is a graduate of ERDC’s Professional Teachers’ Certificate Course with her major in ECE. With working experience of 7 years in the field of education, currently she is associated with Al Badar School. She has done Bachelors of Arts from Karachi University.
Syed Bilal Hashmi Syed Bilal Hashmi has completed Dars-e-Nizami in 2012 and has also received M.A (Arabic & Islamiat) equivalency. He is currently pursuing M.A (Urdu) at Karachi University. He is a graduate of Professional Teachers’ Certificate Course with his major in Teaching of Maths. He has a teaching experience of over seven years which comprises of three years of school teaching (various subjects) and four years of madrasa teaching (Fiqh). Bilal has also worked as a co-author in a Maths textbook developed by ERDC for TCF.
